The CHEMEX COFFEEMAKER IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE WAYS TO BREW! IT IS A MANUAL POUR-OVER STYLE GLASS COFFEEMAKER CREATED IN 1941. THE TIMELESS DESIGN IS SIMPLE, ELEGANT, AND IS EVEN FEATURED IN THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART. BREWING WITH THE CHEMEX CREATES VERY SMOOTH TASTING COFFEE.

Step 1

USING YOUR KETTLE, HEAT 700 GRAMS OF WATER.
WEIGH 50 GRAMS OF COFFEE, COARSELY GROUND. ADJUST COFFEE QUANTITY TO TASTE.
Place your chemex coffeemaker on a digital scale.


Step 2

UNFOLD AND INSERT YOUR CHEMEX COFFEE FILTER INTO THE CHEMEX COFFEEMAKER.
POUR WATER OVER THE FILTER UNTIL ALL OF THE PAPER IS SATURATED. THIS REMOVES PAPER PARTICLES FROM THE FILTER AND PRE-HEATS THE CHEMEX. DISCARD THIS WATER.
POUR THE COFFEE GROUNDS INTO THE FILTER AND SHAKE THE CHEMEX TO LEVEL THE COFFEE.


Step 3

Starting in the middle and working your way outwards, begin pouring 100 grams of water onto the grounds.
Allow the coffee to sit for 45 seconds to bloom.
AFTER 45 SECONDS, POUR 200 GRAMS OF WATER IN A CIRCULAR MOTION.
ONCE THE WATER HAS PERCOLATED THROUGH THE GROUNDS, REPEAT THIS PROCESS IN 200 GRAM INCREMENTS.


Step 4

ONCE ALL OF YOUR HOT WATER HAS BEEN POURED AND FILTERED THROUGH THE GROUNDS, YOUR COFFEE IS READY TO DRINK!
